Life Helpers Initiative recognises the need to leverage on knowledge, capacity and resources in order to achieve its objectives as an organisation, develop capacity of its workforce and also bring the maximal impact to the various communities of interest. LHI has been privileged to work with a few government ministries and agencies, international and national partners over these years. These partners include:
Ministry of Women Affairs [MoWA] is the organ of government that provides policy frameworks and direction to women and children matters which include Gender issues, Vulnerable children among a few. MOWA provides for us enabling environment for our work to thrive and impact the communities.
Northern Education Initiative [NEI], was a 4year project organisation established by Creative Associates with the supported USAID in Sokoto and Bauchi States of Nigeria. The core focus of LHI as a sub-recipient was to ensure access and supporting continuous access to basic education for vulnerable children in the selected public government schools or Nizzammiyya schools as well as adolescent girls of the selected local government areas of Sokoto State.
Ministry of Education, as a government ministry provides leadership, guidance and offers opportunities for private and civil society organisations to participate in the educational development. MoE, along with State Universal Basic Education Board, Islamic and Arabic Education Board, Science and Technical Education Board has continually provided our work with needed support.
TSHIP, Targeted States High Impact Project is implemented by a consortium led by JSI Research Training Institute, Inc. is in two states of the federation namely Sokoto and Bauchi, strengthening health systems in developing and delivering healthcare as well as supporting demand creation for Maternal Newborn Child Health, Family Planning/Child Spacing, Reproductive health issues as well as malaria and routine immunization. LHI in partnership with TSHIP has created and continue to generate demand for MNCH, FP and RH services in the rural areas especially; strongly involved in community distribution of life saving commodities like MISO and Chlorhexidine, Long lasting insecticides mosquito nets reaching out to many settlements and villages in all the wards of 9 local government areas in Sokoto State. TSHIP played a pivotal role in developing LHI’s capacity in project implementation. Through this partnership, we support women through the formation, capacity building and mentoring of women groups called ‘100 Women Group’, in which not a few have become cooperative societies.
STEER, is a Save the Children International implemented project in 5 northern states of Nigeria including Sokoto. A USAID supported project, Systems Transformed for Empowered Action and Enabling Responses for Vulnerable Children and Families (STEER) partners with LH in improving the livelihood of over 1000 households and 4000 vulnerable children in 10 communities of Binji local government area, where LHI is working.
SOSACAT, Sokoto State Agency for Control of AIDS & Tuberculosis has been a partner of many years, supporting and providing technical and financial support for HIV/AIDS related activities including orphans and vulnerable children. With their support, LHI is actively working in 7 local government areas using the Minimum Prevention Package of Intervention [MPPI] approach.
FEED THE FUTURE (FTF) in partnership with Life Helpers on the Support for vulnerable Households for Accelerated Revenue Earnings, a project activity that LHI is carrying out in Kebbi and Sokoto States. Through this partnership, LHI is opportune to work with experienced hands in providing community driven solutions that can provide a replicable model in improving the livelihood of the vulnerable in 2 local government areas of Sokoto and Kebbi State especially in the area of nutrition and income generation.
SFH, Society for Family Health is one of the leading national non-governmental organizations in Nigeria providing leading services and commodities in reproductive health and hygiene. Over the years, LHI has partnered with SFH on Malaria, HIV/AIDS, and water treatment. LHI has benefited from her technical capacities in these area and leverage on their expertise to support the development of rural people in many communities of Sokoto State
Leadership Empowerment Advocacy Development [LEAD] is the project outfit of RTI and its consortium. LEAD, being a governance based project, played a critical role in transforming our systems and supporting us in building the capacity of local based community organisations and structures like the Ward Development Committees as well as provided an enhanced platforms in engaging government on health, education, water and sanitation by the local actors through community priority setting, advocacy, resource and community mobilization.
